Top 10 Tech Stocks To Buy Right Now: FirstEnergy Corporation(FE)

Firstenergy Corp. operates as a diversified energy company. The company, through its subsidiaries and affiliates, involves in the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity, as well as energy management and other energy-related services. It serves approximately 6 million customers within 67,000 square miles through 10 utility operating companies in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia and Maryland. The company was founded in 1996 and is headquartered in Akron, Ohio.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Dan Caplinger]

A large part of that drop came in late May, following very poor results from power-grid operator PJM's auction of electrical capacity governing the 2016-2017 delivery year. With the grid operator managing to secure nearly 170 gigawatts of capacity at a price more than 55% below the previous year's auction, analysts downgraded Exelon and rival FirstEnergy (NYSE: FE  ) because of the adverse long-term implications on electricity demand. New natural-gas-fueled power plants were a major part of the capacity jump, and as gas prices continue to remain relatively low, producers like FirstEnergy and Exelon are facing profit squeezes well into the future.

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Sean Williams]

In cases where it's minor and/or temporary (e.g., a night or two), over-the-counter medications can often be effective. Sanofi (NYSE: SNY  ) , for example, owns the rights to Unisom, one of the most commonly used sleep aids, which it acquired when it purchased Chattem for $1.9 billion in 2009. Unisom is nothing more than a sedating antihistamine, but it can have unpleasant side effects such as daytime drowsiness, dry mouth, and dizziness. Therefore, physicians strongly discourage long-term usage of OTC medications -- often anything beyond two weeks.

  • [By David Williamson]

In this video, health-care analyst David Williamson walks investors through Sanofi's (NYSE: SNY  ) rough quarter, and explains why investors need to keep an eye on the bigger picture. Sanofi is dealing with the loss of patent protection on blockbuster Plavix, but investors have a lot to be excited about, especially the potential of diabetes drug Lantus, and also multiple sclerosis drug Aubagio (although it faces steep competition from Biogen). Watch and find out if Sanofi is a stock that should be on your radar.

They believe potential buyers could include Johnson & Johnson(JNJ), Sanofi (SNY), Astellas (ALPMY) and Bayer (BAYRY).

Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Sean Williams]

Coming in a close second was Abbott Laboratories (NYSE: ABT  ) , which rallied 2.4% after reporting its first-quarter results. For the quarter, net sales increased just shy of 2% to $5.38 billion as adjusted earnings rose 5% to $0.42 from $0.40 in the year-ago period. Revenue was about $30 million short of estimates, but EPS came in $0.01 above target, providing the impetus to send Abbott's shares higher. Perhaps the most intriguing factor from an optimists' perspective was that more than 40% of total sales came from fast-growing emerging markets during the quarter, giving the company ample opportunity to continue growing.

"Nepotism has never been unknown in American banking," Martin Mayer wrote in The Greatest-Ever Bank Robbery, his 1990 book about the savings-and-loan crisis. While Mayer was referring to American Continental, the notoriously corrupt holding company run into the ground by the infamous Charles Keating in the 1980s, his point rings true today in the case of Annaly Capital Management (NYSE: NLY  ) and its publicly traded portfolio company Chimera Investment (NYSE: CIM  ) .
